Sideways Shows For A Straight-Laced City

Resonant Interval #20: Gordon Grdina, Kenton Loewen, Ingebrigt Haaker Flaten, Stefan Gonzalez, Nick Cabrera, Jason Jackson | March 26, 2010

Resonant Interval #20 features our most geographically diverse shows to date. Bassist Ingebrigt Hakker Flaten, who recently moved to Austin from his native Norway, is one of the definitive bass players of his generation, playing with punk jazz trio The Thing, the blistering Scandinavian quintet Atomic & many others across Europe and North America.

He is pulling double duty on this concert, playing in a trio with Canadian oudist Gordon Grdina and drummer Kenton Loewen & a quartet with three Texas natives–Jason Jackson & Nick Cabrera on reeds and Stefan Gonzalez on drums, each of whom have at least a dozen projects between them which range from grindcore to funk. It will be a thrilling evening to say the least.

The concert begins at 7:45 pm. As we have performers travelling from across the state and across the continent, there will be a cover charge on a sliding scale between 5 to 10 dollars.
