This Sunday promises a diverse pairing of top-notch performers, working across a variety of creative fields. The trio of Daniel Zajicek, Andrew Zukoski & Hsin-Jung Tsai unites piano performace, digital sound processing and real-time image manipulation. With curriculae vitae incorporating graduate work in composition & performance in both musical and theatrical idioms across America, Europe & Asia, this trio should provide an exhilarating axis of audial-visual interaction.

No less impressive is the cosmic jazz of Chairs. Featuring veteran Houston musician Charliey Naked, this quartet mines the richest veins of Albert Ayler, Sun Ra and other visionaries of the transporting power of jazz music, filtered through the spiky bite of the post-punk diaspora.

The show takes place at The Husk (2808 Milam, between Khon’s Bar and Pho Saigon) at 7:45 pm. A $5 cover charge goes directly to the performers. Thank you for supporting visionary music in Houston.

Local pianist Robert Pearson and drummer Lance Higdon played together for the first time in the second hour. Note the Insect Warefare shirt sported by Lance.
